On Friday, April 18, 2025, we observe the 250th anniversary of the night Boston’s Old North Church hung two lanterns from its steeple to warn patriots that the British were coming and set Paul Revere off on his famous ride for freedom. The next morning, other area churches rang their bells in alarm as the troops approached.

In this time when resistance to tyranny, fascism, and discrimination is needed once again, join houses of worship and others across the country to ring bells for freedom!

FOR LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

This April 18th, the Old North Church will ring its bells — the oldest in America — to commemorate the day the American people rose up against tyranny and began the long struggle for freedom, liberty, and justice for all that continues today.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Heather Cox Richardson, acclaimed author and professor of history at Boston College.

The Old North Church’s Lantern Service will be livestreamed from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET (3:00 to 5:00 p.m. PT) with Dr. Richardson speaking at 7:00 p.m. (4:00 p.m. PT). Details can be found here.
